Disclosures and Notices

Every page of leggchiropractic.com carries four short marks in the footer: an asterisk for the $49 first visit offer terms, a dagger for the PHOENIX magazine recognition, a double dagger for the emergency room cost comparison, and a general notice. This page is where each one is explained in plain words. Nothing here changes what the doctor tells you in the room; if the two ever differ, the examination and the written plan you receive at the clinic govern.

The $49 first visit offer terms (*)

The $49 first visit is for new self pay patients only. It includes the consultation, a full chiropractic examination, digital X-rays if they are clinically necessary, your first chiropractic adjustment, and your first acupuncture and dry needling treatment, all in one visit with Dr. Derek M. Legg, D.C., M.P.H. It does not apply to Medicare, insurance claims, workers' compensation, or auto accident and personal injury cases, because those are billed under their own rules. One $49 visit per new patient. There is no charge to book and no card is needed to reserve a time; the $49 is paid at the visit. Nothing beyond the first visit is sold on the first visit: any treatment plan and its price are given to you in writing at your report of findings, before you decide, and there are no contracts. Self pay patients may ask for a Good Faith Estimate at any time. Full details are on the $49 first visit page.

PHOENIX magazine Top Chiropractor recognition (†)

Dr. Derek M. Legg, D.C., M.P.H., was voted a Top Chiropractor by his peers in PHOENIX magazine in 2024 and in 2026, and is listed in the magazine's 2026 to 2027 Medical Directory. The selection is made by the magazine from nominations by other chiropractors. It is not a ranking, a certification, or an endorsement by the Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners or any other licensing body, and it does not mean that one provider is better than another or that any treatment result is promised. Both recognitions and the directory listing were provided at no charge, and Legg Chiropractic and Acupuncture did not purchase advertising with the magazine in connection with it.

Emergency room cost comparison sources (‡)

Some of our pages compare the price of a first visit here with the reported average price of an emergency room visit, shown as about $1,400. That figure is the Health Care Cost Institute's reported average price of an emergency room visit for people with employer sponsored insurance in 2017, $1,389, from its analysis of insurance claims. The Institute's later report covering 2012 to 2021 put the average price of the emergency room visit itself at $1,317 in 2021, and at $2,909 once every service billed during the visit is included. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality reports hospital costs, which are not the same as prices; its Statistical Brief 268 put the average cost of an emergency department visit in 2017 at $530. None of these figures is specific to back pain, and your own cost in an emergency room depends on the hospital, the services you receive, and your insurance. The comparison is offered so you can see the difference in scale, not as a quote for either setting. Emergency symptoms belong in the emergency room regardless of cost: new numbness or weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, a sudden severe headache, chest pain, or a serious injury.

General notice

The information on this website is general health information for residents of the West Valley and is not medical advice for any individual. Reading it does not create a doctor and patient relationship. Every patient is examined before any treatment is recommended, and the plan you receive comes from that examination, not from this website. Results vary from person to person, and no outcome is promised. Chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture and dry needling are performed by Dr. Derek M. Legg, D.C., M.P.H., who is licensed by the Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners and Certified in Acupuncture by that Board; he does not delegate those treatments. Medicare covers the medically necessary chiropractic spinal adjustment only. Examinations, X-rays, acupuncture and dry needling performed by a chiropractor are self pay for Medicare patients and are quoted in writing before they are provided. The patient quotes on this site are taken word for word from public Google reviews and credited with the reviewer's initials; each one reflects that person's own experience. Questions about anything on this page can be asked at the clinic, (623) 214-7600, or in writing at 13757 W Bell Rd #101, Surprise, AZ 85374.
