Most patients are treated on the first visit, not just examined, and that treatment can include a chiropractic adjustment along with acupuncture or dry needling when it is appropriate. What happens at your first visit
Your first visit follows five steps. You sit down with Dr. Legg and talk about what is bothering you, how long it has been there, and what your days look like. He performs a full, hands-on examination of how you move. Digital X-rays are taken in the office if they are clinically necessary, so nothing is sent out and nothing delays your care. Then, when it is appropriate, you receive your first chiropractic adjustment and your first acupuncture or dry needling treatment. All of it happens in one visit.
What to bring and when to arrive
Arrive about 15 minutes early with your photo ID and your insurance or Medicare card. Bring a list of any surgeries you have had, the names of any other doctors you are seeing for this problem, and any recent X-rays or scans. If you are coming in for a car accident or a work injury, bring your claim number and your adjuster or attorney contact. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes that come off easily, and leave metal jewelry at home in case X-rays are needed.

Chiropractic, acupuncture, and dry needling in one visit
The adjustment frees the joint, the spine, and the nerve. Acupuncture and dry needling settle the muscle, the spasm, and the tendon around it. Dr. Legg is Certified in Acupuncture by the Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners, so both are done in the same visit by the same doctor. Insurance, Medicare, and the $49 first visit
We accept Medicare and most major plans, and we verify your benefits before your visit, so there are no surprise bills. Medicare covers medically necessary chiropractic spinal adjustments only. Acupuncture and dry needling from a chiropractor are not covered by Medicare and are billed as self pay, and so are X-rays and other services ordered by a chiropractor. New self pay patients can start with the $49 first visit. The $49 first visit does not apply to Medicare, auto accident or personal injury cases, or workers' compensation. What happens after the first visit
Your second visit is your review of findings. Dr. Legg walks you through your X-rays, what he found, and the treatment plan in plain English. You leave knowing what to do at home, and you decide the next step. There are no contracts, and you come as often as you need, not on a set schedule. Home care guidance is on our home care page.
How long does the first visit take?
About 45 minutes. Plan for a little longer if you arrive without your paperwork finished.
Does the first adjustment hurt?
The adjustment is usually not painful. Some patients feel mild soreness afterward that settles quickly. Dr. Legg explains what he is doing before he does it, and nothing happens without your say so.
Will I be treated on the first visit or just examined?
Most patients are treated on the first visit. If the examination or your X-rays show that treatment should wait, Dr. Legg tells you that day and explains why, and if chiropractic is not the right care for you, he points you to who can help.
What if I need to change my appointment?
Plans change, and that is okay. If you need to change or cancel, please call (623) 214-7600 as early as you can, so we can give your time to someone else who is hurting. If you are running late, call us and we will fit you in if we can.
Do I need a referral?
